i wasn't just speculating when i guessed my parents decided they
won't be having any grandkids. whether i happen to raise children or
not.
in the spirit of my new year's resolution to
confront my fears and communicate more directly with my family about my
feelings, i wrote back. and i asked my father to save some of my most
treasured items to pass on to my children.
it seems
my father might have made a resolution to communicate with me more
directly as well. because this was his one-sentence response:
"I
guess you don't get it. The reason for getting rid of stuff is
accepting that there will not be any grandkids to pass things onto."
hence,
my latest new year's resolution. in the interest of my professional
wellness, i resolve to no longer read my personal email at work.
